With shooting wrapped up for Jayam Ravi’s 'Peranmai' yesterday, post production work is all set to begin. The film features five heroines, all new comers, all of who play NCC students who reportedly help Jayam Ravi chase terrorists out of the country.

The film is an ambitious project by director Jananathan, who always tries something novel in his flicks. If 'Iyarkai' dealt with the lives of fisher folk, 'Ee' took on the huge issue of Biowar. And now, 'Peranmai', is said to have Jayam Ravi play a role no other Tamil actor has played before. While it is known that he is a tribal leader and a forest guard, the exact nature of his character has not been revealed. After a year of shooting, the film is all set for post production work now.

The director pins his hopes on Tanishka, who plays one of the heroines in the film. In fact, the director says all heroines will be in all songs with the actor. But he says Tanishka will be noticed for her stunts, which remind him of Angelina Jolie. “I affectionately called her that after seeing her performance in the movie,” he says, adding that he picked her from a crowd when he spotted her at an exhibition.

Ananda Thandavam pair thriller Thamanna

How about a poignant experience turning into an edge-seated thriller? Don’t expect the same film to be on that course.

Merely, it’s about the couple of actors who paired up for ‘Ananda Thandavam’ teaming up again. Siddarth who made his debut in ‘Ananda Thandavam’ has gone far-famed with his cute looks.

Rukmani who shot to fame with her debut film ‘Bommalaatam’ and now ‘Ananda Thandavam’ pairs up with him again for a film titled ‘Naan’. Produced by Aascar Ravichandran, sources have revealed that Jeeva Shankar who cranked camera for ‘Ananda Thandavam’ wields megaphone for this film.

Though not a remake of yesteryear film ‘Naan’ starring Ravi Chandran in lead role, it has been revealed this would be an edge-seated thriller with nail-biting sequences.

Director Sasikumar sure has a plan up his sleeve. The director and actor is currently working as the lead in director Samuthirakani’s 'Naadodigal'.

The film deals the lives of four young men with normal aspirations like studying well and settling abroad. But what is in store for them when the quirk of fate leads to a complicated situation is the story’s crux. Sasikumar is paired with Ananya in the film and in fact has three more heroines, Abinaya, Shanthini and Neha. But it has been revealed that the script is such that the hero does not have one duet with any of them.

One more specialty about the movie is that one of the girls in the film is a deaf and dumb girl. The film has cinematography by Kathiir and is based on friendship and love.

Movie Review ‘Guru En Aalu’

Production: KRG

Starring: Madhavan, Mamta Mohandas, Abbas, Brinda Parekh, Vivek

Direction: Selva

Music: Srikanth Deva

P.R.O: Mounam Ravi

Here’s the best entertaining flick of this season. Post-the release of ‘AYAN’ there haven’t been any films on the release lists. Perhaps, ‘Guru En Aalu’ is a film that you can watch if you’re expecting for full-fledged amusement.

Director Selva proves himself again so fantabulous in formulating his directorial with more commercial elements.Guru (Madhavan) has one perfect dream about turning to be a rich tycoon and boss of a big concern.

Well, the person who can turn his dreams into reality is none other than his boss (Abbas) who’s already married, yet a ludicrous-weird-womanizer. However, Guru has to give up his conscience and make things work out for his boss with his talented approach.

At a point, he falls in love with a beautiful model Seema (Mamta Mohandas) whom his boss too eyes on her. Eventually, it’s up to Guru to decide is it love or his dreams that he can fetch.Maddy does a splendiferous job on emoting to all situations with an excellence. His ability to deliver spontaneous humors turns the spotlights. Mamta Mohandas could’ve got yet more importance on her performance. Vivek steals the show with a marvelous piece of work..

Well, for his fans who were so excited about his ‘Padmashree’, he has a grand fiesta of entertainment. He carries the complete film on his shoulders. Abbas, M.S. Bhaskar, Mayilsamy and others have done resplendent tasks of adding more to the humor quotients.Musical score by Srikanth Deva could’ve been yet more commendable. Ditto to cinematography and editing. Director Selva has picked up a cool subject that has no complications.Indeed, ‘Guru En Aalu’ is a worth watching film.

We have seen umpteen remakes of South Indian films in Bollywood. Now, the flow is going the other way.

Yes, it’s the south directors, particularly in the Tamil film industry, who are keen to remake a good number of Hindi hits in their native language.'Poi Solla Porom', remake of Bollywood hit Khosla Ka Ghosla , has turned out to be a box-office success and production houses are now toying with the idea of rehashing other Bollywood flicks.

According to reports, 'Guru En Aalu' is inspired from ‘Yes Boss’, 'Villu' is based on ‘Soldier’, and 'Agean' is a remake of Main Hoon Na . The Tamil remakes also have big stars. For instance, Vijay plays the lead in ‘Villu’ while Ajith is the frontman of ‘Agean’.

Not just this, last year’s Bollywood hit Jab We Met is being adapted in Tamil by Moser Baer. On the other hand, director P. Vasu has plans to remake Shahrukh Khan ’s Baazigar .

However, some Tamil filmmakers are wary of this trend of adapting Bollywood hits. They think it would be a challenge to adapt non-native stories to the tastes of movie buffs downsouth.

JAI HO singer Vijay thanks Rahman

It's not just Sukhwinder Singh who sung 'Jai Ho' for SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE. Other than him, there were three other singers who contributed to the song - Vijay Prakash, Tanvi Shah and Mahalaxmi Iyer. Though it has been Sukhwinder who has gained maximum mileage for the song, Vijay Prakash is glad that through the Oscar winner song, his voice is also reaching out to a global audience.

''Now it would be easier for people to know me after 'Jai Ho'. I should not expect more from the song'', says the 33 year old singer who has been around the Bollywood scene for close to a decade now, ''Apart from playback singing, I also do jingles and ads. However, as an artist you always long for that recognition.''

CHECK OUT: Bhushan Kumar - Rahman has finally got his due

He thanks A.R. Rahman for all the recognition he is getting today. ''He always does his best for an artist'', he says fondly, ''He is the first composer in India who started the practice of giving credit to all backup vocalists and everyone else involved in making a song. He is someone who will always try and want his artists to get maximum exposure.''

In that case, why did he miss out on walking the red carpet at Oscars?

''I am sure that there must have been some reasons for us not to be invited. Even Sukhwinderji wasn't there'', he says with a straight face, ''Yes, it would have been great had I traveled but not being able to do so doesn't make me regret it all in a big way. After the Oscar award for the song, I have become a lot optimistic. If 'Jai Ho' can happen in my life then I am sure a lot more goodies are on their way in my life.''
